Food delivery revolution

Food delivery revolution

By Melissa Chung

Local businesses are adopting the latest food delivery digital technologies – which is great news for residents and workers.

CBD News research shows at least 24 local businesses are now using Uber Eats, 66 use Menulog, 42 use Deliveroo and many more use Foodora.

CBD restaurants that have joined the food delivery game include local Australian restaurants, European restaurants, Asian restaurants, cafes, salad places, ice-cream stores, juice bars and burger joints.

Apart from food delivery apps, alcohol delivery apps have also popped up in the home delivery industry, for example, Tipple.

A wide range of food delivery apps were launched last year. They act as a third-party for restaurants to expand their businesses.

These services differ from traditional food delivery where orders used to be made online and sent to the restaurant via fax.  Now customers order food on their phones just with a few clicks.
