CBD’s favourite office pet

Take-your-dog-to-work-day is part of everyday lifestyle for city goer and pet owner, Paul Clayton.

Abbey, a nine-year-old Shiba Inu may not live in the city but gets to experience city life by commuting to the CBD each day.

Abbey’s companion, Paul takes her to work where she gets a lot of attention from everyone in the office.

“It’s good, the staff enjoy having her around, they all come up and give her a pat so I think it gives a good feeling of wellbeing in the business,” he said.

Paul says he spends a lot of time in Flagstaff Gardens enjoying the park environment in the CBD.

“Every day I come here and enjoy the park for about 10-20 minutes and then we go back to work,” he said.

Abbey’s owner was pretty satisfied with the amount of parks and gardens available for pet owners in the CBD.

“I think we are lucky we have so many parks around, it keeps her amused. It’s not just a concrete jungle so we are pretty lucky with what we have got,” he said.

However, there is still something that needs improvement in Flagstaff Gardens.

“The only thing is I wouldn’t mind there being somewhere in this park for them to drink water. They put new fountains in but there is no pet bowls at the bottom of it, not one of them,” Paul said.

Describing Abbey as a great house dog who is very clean and playful, Paul said she was his favourite pet.

“I love her company, she helps the day go by. It's nice having your best friend with you,” he said.
