Asia Pop Courtyard

Asia Pop Courtyard

Finish your week with a burst of fun, food, and Asian pop fusion every Friday night at the Asia Pop Courtyard.

As part of the Asia-Pacific Triennial of Performing Arts (TOPA) festival, the Immigration Museum courtyard will be transformed into one giant dance floor.

Featuring performances from SBS Pop Asia DJs and performances from K pop dancers, Asia Pop Courtyard is a celebration of Australia’s connections with contemporary Asia.

DJs Japandaman and Silhouette will be spinning tunes by international K Pop and J Pop sensations Got7, NEWS, GFriend, AKB48, I.O.I, PAPP, Red Velvet, 2ne1 and Big Bang.

Refuel from all the dancing you’ll be doing with an icy cold brew from the Asian beer bar and delight in the street food delicacies of Lil Nom Nom’s, Kimu Korean Japanese eatery and more.

If you’re feeling inspired by the K Pop and J Pop artists, you can hold your own performance in the Asia Pop Courtyard karaoke lounge. Immortalise your performance or just take a happy snap in the photo booth too!

Continuing the celebration of culture indoors, the Immigration Museum will showcase Kung Fu Motion, a martial arts exhibition.

Immerse yourself in the action and watch a re-creation of Hong Kong Kung Fu masters as they create precise and deadly movements in this moving video installation.

Using motion capture and ultra-high speed video, Kung Fu Motion presents the intricate movements of traditional Hakka Kung Fu.

City University of Hong Kong and International Guosho Association have partnered with Hing Chao, Sarah Kenderdine and Jeffrey Shaw to create this visual masterpiece for the Immigration Museum.

Kung Fu Motion tickets are $14 throughout the week, but entry is free to Asia Pop Courtyard visitors on Friday evenings.

Asia Pop Courtyard is a free event series, and if you need a break from all the excitement you can also enjoy a complimentary visit through the Immigration Museum all night.

Asia TOPA and Asia Pop Courtyard is presented by the Sidney Myer Fund and Arts Centre Melbourne.

5pm – 9pm, every Friday night, February 3- 24.
Immigration Museum Courtyard, 400 – 424 Flinders St. Free.
