Get active this summer at Federation Square!

With a large program of participatory events aimed at getting everyone up and moving, you can now squeeze in a fun, free work out during your lunch break.

Join the world-renowned dance party that is Zumba! Burn calories to the exhilarating Latin beats. Classes are presented by Healthy Lifestyle Lounge and run every Thursday from February 9 until March 16, 12pm – 12.45pm, St Paul’s Court.

Looking for a lunch time work out with a twist? Summer In Motion has you covered with fortnightly belly dancing lessons. Taught by professional instructor Trisnasari, the aerobic-inspired dance focuses on toning and strengthening core muscles. All ages and skill levels are invited to join in on the fun. Every second Thursday from January 12 until February 23, The Atrium, 1pm – 1.30 pm.

Embracing Melbourne’s multiculturalism, Summer In Motion is also offering Irish folk dancing lessons. Presented by Melbourne Comhaltas and Fed Square, experienced instructors welcome beginners of all ages to learn steps to the Irish jig and traditional folk dancing every Sunday from January 29 until February 19, St Paul’s Court, 2pm – 3pm.

If you’d rather make the beat than dance to it, Asanti Dance Theatre is also inviting you to take part in its African Drumming Workshops. Asanti Dance Theatre is an internationally recognised African drum and dance performance company based right here in Melbourne. Workshops run every Wednesday from January 11 until March 1, St Paul’s Court, 4.30pm- 6pm.

Young and old alike can improve their co-ordination and sharpen their concentration with juggling lessons led by an expert juggler. Lessons are held every Monday and go for an hour.  January 9 until February 13, St Paul’s Court, 5pm – 6pm.

Bring your friends and partners and join the dancers from Barefoot Swing for West Coast Swing Lessons. Taking a casual approach to swing dancing, West Coast Swing lessons are suitable for both experienced and beginner dancers. Move your feet to a selection of everything from Motown melodies up to today’s top 40. Every Tuesday from January 10 until March 7, St Paul’s Court, 6pm – 7pm.

Presented by Fed Square and Asanti Dance Theatre, BoomSa African Dance is here! This cardio and endurance based dance style welcomes people of all skill levels to join them. Every Thursday from January 12 until February 23 at St Paul’s Court, 5pm - 6.15pm.
