Lunchtime city dodgeball player Devrim Van Dijk recently covered himself in glory at world championships, but the real action is here at Flagstaff Gardens.

Mr Van Dijk represented Australia and won bronze in Canada.  But he is also a member of Simply Energy, which will contest a grand final on November 29.

Simply Energy has been playing in the competition every Wednesday for five seasons.

Mr Van Dijk said: “We always look forward to Wednesdays, because it’s dodgeball day. There’s definitely a trusting team chemistry that has developed over this time. We work well together both in the board room and on the dodgeball courts and we haven’t looked back since we started!”

Simply Energy are confident that they will make the upcoming grand final, which will be held at Flagstaff Gardens courts on November 29 at 1pm.

Mr Van Dijk said: “This season we’re going for the win with the goal to set the record straight!”

Active Melbourne City Sports has a range of sports and physical activity programs designed to get inner-city workers out of the office and active on their lunch breaks.

Soccer, basketball, netball, barefoot bowls, dodgeball and urban street cricket competitions are all available and are held at the Docklands Sports Courts and Flagstaff Gardens courts.

Team registrations are now open for the upcoming 2018 Autumn season, which will start in February.
