Young and old celebrated summer with a supersized inflatable slip ‘n’ slide at Federation Square last month.

Toyota’s “Slide the Square” ran for 12 days from January 4 – 15 with last year’s success prompting it to run for an extra week.

The slide was open from 10 am until 8 pm and sessions ran for 50 minutes. As tickets started at just $20, the lines were long but the laughs were plentiful!

Slide the Square was just one attraction of Federation Square’s summer events program that was held in the lead up to the Australian Open that began on January 16.

Other events included juggling lessons and yoga for children.

Acting Minister for Tourism and Major Events Philip Dalidakis launched Slide the Square and was excited for its impact on the city.

“Fed Square is running a fantastic series of summer events this year that provide tourists with more activities to enjoy in the heart of the city and keep our local businesses busy during summer,” he said.

The 75 metre slide wasn’t just beneficial for those trying to escape the heat. The water used for the slide was recycled into Fed Square’s gardens too.

A sustainable slip ‘n’ slide success!
