International student conference a success

The Melbourne International Student Conference (MISC) saw hundreds of overseas students and graduates converge at RMIT on May 11 to discuss issues that matter to them.

The annual MISC is organised by Meld Magazine in partnership with the City of Melbourne and RMIT.

This year’s conference theme was Purpose Change Impact, with the aim to help international students in Melbourne establish their purpose and find out how they can bring about change.

The MISC committee invited keynote speakers such as Cr Philip Le Liu, sustainability advocate Dr Kaushik Sridhar, community co-ordinator Gayertree Subramaniam, social entrepreneur Julian O’Shea and business consultant Liz Lor, most of whom were once international students.

The conference offered valuable learning sessions, speeches and networking opportunities for international students, who are an important part of the city’s community.
