People’s Choice credit union customers are warned that attending their local CBD branch on March 4 may be confronting.
Bank manager Karen Beard will be in her Batgirl outfit for the day to raise funds for a children’s charity.
Karen is obviously not shy. Last year she dressed as “Supergirl”, which better fits SuperBoss Day, to raise funds for HeartKids and support families of children with heart disease.
Last year, she and co-worker John Tacey raised more than $2000 for HeartKids and hope to equal that amount this year.
HeartKids says eight children are born with heart disease every day in Australia.
Karen told CBD News that, while she hadn’t been directly affected, a baby nephew of hers had died from an unrelated cause.
“I’ve happy to help anything that’s kids-related,” she said. “These kids with heart disease have it for life and there’s no known cause.”
So why the Batgirl costume this year?
“I’m moving to Batman St in West Melbourne,” she laughed.
