Happy 30th, Ross House

The CBD’s not-for-profit hub Ross House is celebrating its 30th birthday on October 11.

Being a self-managed and community-owned building, the Ross House Association hosts 93 community groups advocating for causes such as social justice and environmental protection.

The Flinders Lane building provides affordable office spaces, resources and collaboration opportunities for its tenants.

Formerly called Royston House, Ross House was purchased and renovated with funds from the State Government, philanthropic trusts and corporate donations in 1985 and opened its doors in 1987.

The 30th anniversary celebrates the diversity and contributions of the various community groups at Ross House.

“What strikes people on walking into Ross House, is the unique atmosphere of co-operation created by such a diversity of groups in one building,” development program manager Amber Moore said.

“Although our specific aims are different, the one thing we all have in common is a passion for making the world a better place, and we do this by working towards social change and the removal of disadvantage,” she said.
