Even more in love with Melbourne’s CBD

Merilyn Parker and partner Wells Trenfield are big fans of the CBD, but love it even more after winning a dinner for two at one of the city’s best restaurants.

Merilyn’s submission to Residents 3000’s recent survey of city living was randomly selected as the winner.

The pair actually live in Clifton Hill, but have a retail business in the city as well as a Flinders St investment apartment.

“We’ve always loved the CBD, so when we started looking for a property we were determined to find one with character in a small block,” Merilyn said.

She said the energy of the CBD was fantastic.  “You walk out on any weekend and there’s always something on,” she said.  “You can wander in any direction and come across some amazing things.”

Ms Parker said the residential amenity of the city needed to be protected against over-development.

She said some recent developments risked turning the city into “canyons of ugliness”.

“They look like have been designed for dollars, not as homes for people,” she said.

Local real estate agency Hocking Stuart conducted the survey on behalf of Residents 3000.  As reported in last month’s CBD News, respondents to the survey said they most loved the lifestyle that CBD living offered. Noise, was the most frequent complaint.
