29th May, 2018
The CBD has received a security boost in the recently-released 2018-19 state budget.
The state government has allocated $41 million to install additional security bollards and CCTV cameras across the CBD, which has almost tripled from previous years’ funding.
Some $10 million has been spent from last year for the installation of temporary and permanent bollards and barriers and an alarm and loudspeaker system for emergencies.
The state government will also contribute $7.2 million to help victims of the Bourke St tragedy over the next two years.
