Abseil for Anglicare!

Abseil for Anglicare!

Looking for an exciting way to support disadvantaged Victorians? Why not try abseiling down 27 storeys of our iconic St James Building at Altitude Shift!

Presented by Anglicare Victoria, Friday, April 28 and Saturday, April 29 will see 200 Melburnians abseil down the St James building to raise money for young people living in and out of home care.

The only event of its kind in Melbourne, Altitude Shift gives participants a spectacular view of the CBD skyline before they abseil 113 metres back down the ground.

Zenith Events is a company that creates adventure and adrenaline-based events for fundraising purposes and staff will be on hand throughout the entirety of the event to prepare and guide participants.

CEO of Anglicare Victoria, Paul McDonald, is calling on all thrill-seekers to enjoy a weekend dedicated to a great cause!

“We need Victorians’ help to raise funds for young people living in and out of home care, and in return we can provide a once-in-a-lifetime experience you’ll never forget,” he said.

Anglicare Victoria is the largest foster care provider in the state. Currently, it houses more than 400 children a night who are unable to live with their families.

As well as home care, Anglicare Victoria offers emergency relief, parenting and family services and financial and legal services too.

The organisation also produces one of Australia’s only reports that compares the outcomes of children in care with children from stable homes in the community.

The latest report states that 42.1 per cent of children in foster care were scored as “abnormal” when it comes to emotional and behavioural difficulties, compared with 10.2 per cent of children in stable home environments across Australia.

Anglicare Victoria aims to ease and nurture the lives of these young people, so dig deep and register or donate!

There are only 200 spots available for this event, so make sure you get in quick!

Registration costs $150, but you must raise a minimum of $850 in order to participate in the abseil.

Anglicare Victoria invites all groups and individuals over the age of 16 to travel out of their comfort zone (113 metres outside of their comfort zone, in fact) and to raise money for our disadvantaged.

There are prizes up for grabs for the most funds raised too. Visit www.altitudeshift.org.au for more information and to register today!
