$15 lunch deals

$15 lunch deals

By Tina Thorburn

Leave behind your sad sandwich or last night’s leftovers, Melbourne’s CBD is a hub of lunchtime gems.

Aside from an excuse to stretch your legs and get out of the office, for $15 or less you can grab a delicious meal.

From focaccias to savoury crepes, the hardest decision won’t be whether to have lunch out, but what to have for lunch.

If you like to walk while you eat, why not grab a hand crafted artisan sausage at Snap Stand at the corner of LaTrobe and Swanston.

Choose from a menu of 15 snags or six burgers and eat on the go. Or take your taste buds to northwest France and head to 241 Flinders Lane.

As the name implies, Roule Galette sells delicious galettes. Assistant Manager Theo Hemeidan describes a galette as a “savoury crepe that’s lactose and gluten free.”

The best seller is the “complete” (best said in a French accent) with egg, ham and cheese for $10. Or grab some Japanese food at Don Don at 198 Little Lonsdale St.

The quick service and authentic food will allow you to make that 1pm meeting, without compromising a meal. If you’re craving something to match the cold Melbourne weather, why not head to Fuguzza, a focacceria at 31 Equitable Place.

Choose from focaccias made with freshly-baked bread or homemade soups, or grab both.

Owner, Simon Michelangeli says the best seller is the soup and sandwich combo, which gives you a choice from three soups and six sandwiches.

So whether you need to upgrade your lunch or want a cheap midday meal, remember, you don’t have to look hard in the city.
